I know this ...

...we can then pray wholeheartedly for our friend's happiness, secure in the knowledge that God is going to fulfill all our needs (not necessarily all our wants), and we don't have to depend on a person to do it. We can say with our whole being, "I love you, and there are no strings. I just want to be around to support you in whatever way you and the Lord want me to. I want to pray for you, share your burdens and be involved in your life because I love you, but I'm not expecting anything from you. I simply and truly want to see you happy and fulfilled." That is the pursuit of agape love. That is serving rather than being served, and loving rather than being loved...

I believe that I may be one of a rare few, but I know this type of love. It is unconditional and sacrificial. It can't be controlled and it's not something you 'do' ... it's a part of who you are.

I was once told that 'unconditional love' doesn't exist; I am here to say that it does!

It is beautiful ... pure and raw and passionate and absolutely complete.
It is selfless.
I believe that is where my friend sees a boundary ... it's not easy to give up your own personal agenda and selfish ways for someone else. But, it does happen!
When it 'is' ~ you can't control it ... it simply 'is'

I never thought this type of love was real; I thought it was only in movies: Gus & Clara in 'Lonesome Dove' or Captain & Lucia in 'The Ghost and Mrs. Muir' ...  but I was proven incorrect in the time it takes for an elevator to ding!
and I thank God every day for that wonderful, unexpected, priceless gift!!

I know that no matter the number of days I grace this marvelous planet, I have experienced what few ever do~and I am humbled by it, blessed, and eternally grateful!
