"Could have, should have, wish I had ...
Maybe ... one-day ... if only ..."
These words usually follow regret and misery.
A good friend told me once that a future spent looking back was as miserable as death, only with death you know that you have no power to change the outcome ... and with regret, you have (had) the power to the change the outcome and you have
to live with yourself and the knowledge of knowing that it could be different except you were too (??? afraid, obligated, stubborn ???) to do anything about it!
